Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a PDF to under 1 MB?
Select “1 MB” as the maximum size and click “Compress”. The tool gradually lowers page resolution and quality until the file fits. For long documents, the black & white option helps a lot.
Will my document stay readable?
In the vast majority of cases, yes: the tool starts at the best quality and only reduces what is needed. Always check the result before sending it; if it is blurry, remove unnecessary pages or split the document.
Why is the text no longer selectable?
To reach a very small size, each page is turned into a compressed image. The text stays perfectly readable but can no longer be copied. That does not matter for scanned documents such as payslips, bills or statements.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, on your device — which matters for personal documents such as IDs or tax notices.
Can I compress photos of documents taken with my phone?
Yes. Add your photos (JPG, PNG, iPhone HEIC…): they are combined into a single PDF at the size you need.
